This is my target from Dec. 31, after taking my new M&P to the range. I shot this at approximately 15 yards. The grouping isn’t as tight as I’d like it to be, but I only have ~200 rounds through the gun. I’m particularly proud of that bullseye though, even if it is beginner’s luck.

This blogamajig tends to focus on random real museums. But in remembrance of Christopher Hitchens, today I will curate a special collection of screencaps. It’s like a made-up museum in 15 second web form. Last night I was laughing at all the anger and confusion (and ignorance) of twitter twats who did not know God Is Not Great is the name of a book and not the offensive name of a stupid trend. Religious people threatened violence against “whoever started this trend”, you know, the opposite of peace and love. These so-called representatives of God on Earth are probably the worst possible examples God could have chosen to spread His message. But I have a feeling Hitchens would have been amused by all this lashing out. A fitting tribute as Hitch got in one last fight with all the reactions. Sorry, people…the #GodIsNotGreat is not a direct insult against you, but it is a book you can easily check out at your nearest library. Read it. You might learn something.

God is love, eh?
There are two main aspects of Christianity as it is practiced in America that I really can’t stand.
One is the incessant belief that Christianity is under persecution here, because, well, look around you? You’ve got it better than any Christian population since Charlemagne, and you didn’t have to fight a crusade. Though you’ve still tried, which leads to the second problem, exemplified above.
There’s an astounding number of American Christians who don’t seem to understand the basic tenets of their own faith. Jesus summarized the entire law in two phrases: love God and love each other. The man who hung around with prostitutes and tax collectors isn’t really into killing someone over a tweet. I mean the only time he’s recorded as getting angry was at people corrupting the temple from within.
The victim complex and hate are the reasons people are leaving the religion. They’re why the phrase “I’m not a Christian, I’m a Christ-follower” has entered religious lexicon. I’m still sticking around because I still hope we can change.
